I shot this on a very boring day, when I’d got nothing else to do except playing with my Матрёшка (Russian Doll)… The idea of making this frame-by-frame animation suddenly struck me. And then I wasted my following several days on that… It’s a pity that I seemed to have chosen the wrong music. I meant to use a Russian song, and I thought this was one (Shame on me I don’t know Russian)! I only realised it was a Jewish song very later on. So I do hope there’re many Russian-Jewish people so that this little work could make some sense

Bleh. We were assigned a certain unique family to make Russian nesting dolls out of and animate them using an HDR image to light them. Tedious project. Utter frustration, but I finally got it done. Painting UV maps and textures and using bump maps, oh joy! (the animating was the most fun part)

My first crack at stop animation. I’m hoping to make a show called “Former Russian Presidents” using Russian Matryoshka dolls with 1 – 2 min episodes. I will get furniture and sets built and something needs to be done about the atrocious lighting. And yes it will have dialogue. I just posted this on here as a test and hope to get some feedback from anyone with experience with this sort of thing.
