Babooshka or Russian dolls are a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside another.

The point about them is that they show the futility of trying to reduce things to their "simple" elements because you encounter a regression of complexity all the way. Open
up one doll and you find another.
Science has had to face up to this fact. In the past, atoms
were thought of as the fundamental particles that could
not be destroyed.
Along came quantum theory and the myth of the atom’s
simple indivisibility was literally shattered. In fact, atoms
are far more complex in their structure and behaviour
than anything we can model using classical physics.
So, I suggest you spend more time playing with Babooshka
dolls and understanding that reality reflects the complexity
of God.
EDIT: There is a smallest one…but it is complex and not simple.

I spent 2 years commuting to Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East and during each trip I would buy a Matryoshka doll. Normally they sit on my bookcase collecting dust but today I decided to take each one apart and photograph them. They are so beautifully painted it seems a shame to not have each one on display but that would require too much space. Enjoy these little works of art. music is me on guitar (Hummingbird with the heart monitor pickup under the bridge) and bass (acoustic) playing my instrumental called ‘It is wah it is’. (and you thought Jimi Hendrix used a lot of wah wah!)
does anyone know how i could make my own matryoshka doll? not of wood though. ha. im teaching a class of 9th graders about the dolls and i need ideas for activties to do with them….help?!
When I was younger, I had this one children’s book, but I cannot, for the life of me, remember the title or the author. It was about this girl who got into some kind of trouble with a corrupt king or something. Anyway, he exiles her or sends her to the dungeon or something. She was previously given a matryoshka doll (also known as a nesting doll) by someone, who told her to only open it when she was in trouble. While she’s in the dungeon or whatever, she opens it. Inside the doll is another doll with a bear painted on it. Suddenly, a live bear appears to help her and gets her out of prison. They go into the forest and it’s as far as he can take her. She opens the bear doll and inside is a wolf doll, and a wolf appears and takes her across the forest. Can’t remember what happens next, but she opens the wolf doll and a pheonix doll is inside. The pheonix helps her somehow and I think she marries a prince in the end, and becomes queen, and then makes a law to protect all bears, wolves, and pheonixes. Does anyone know the name of the book?

Nothing says Russia quite like Matryoshka dolls, or nesting dolls.
Those whimsical dolls that open up to reveal another, smaller version, and on and on...
Authentic Matryoshka Dolls are quite beautiful, and wonderful collection pieces.
There are also inexpensive versions, more appropriate for toys.
